We will have a band and other festivities to make the day an enjoyable one. As we are continuing to fight the battle against COVID-19, we ask all participants to wear a mask and maintain proper social distancing.
Trunk or Treat 2020 - The Details
Please read the following before registering a vehicle as a contestant for the West Orange Farmers Market's 2020 Trunk of Treat event.
This event will be held rain or shine on Saturday, October 31st, 2020.
Arrival Time for Vehicles: 10AM Exit Time for Vehicles: 3PM
Start Time for Event: 11AM End Time for Event: 2PM
Vehicles that arrive prior to 10AM will be requested to queue in the parking lot until directed to pull into your designated spot.
Vehicles that arrive later than 10AM will not be able to participate. Please arrive on time!
At no time for any reason will a vehicle be permitted to exit the event early. Once all vehicles are situated the gates will be closed and the event area will be closed off to vehicular traffic. Only at the conclusion of the event will vehicular traffic be permitted to resume.
Vehicle setup / decorating should take place between 10am and 11am. You may pre-decorate portions of your vehicle at home if you'd like. At 11am, all decorating must stop and the event will open to participants.
MASKS that cover your nose and mouth must be worn at all times. Sorry, gaiter masks and t-shirts pulled up over the face are not considered masks. Halloween masks do not protect against virus transmission and must be combined with a cloth facemask.
Social distancing (6ft of minimum distance between parties) must be adhered to at all times. We will have 1 entry and 1 exit point to the market on the 31st and will be directing the flow of traffic to help enforce social distancing. We will also be limiting the number of people allowed in the area of the market at any given time.
We request each vehicle distribute candy to the trick or treaters.
Here are the guidelines:
Candy should be commercially packaged and non-perishable. Leave a treat bowl on a table or in a place where it may be easily accessed while adhering to social distancing requirements OR arrange individually packaged candy so that trick or treaters can grab and go without accessing a shared bowl (eg spread the candy out on a table). Candy shoots or other ideas are also welcome.
Practice hand hygiene before the event, after touching objects such as wrapped candy, and after the event. Please bring hand sanitizer and use it prior to placing candy on your table or in your bowl. We will be requesting guests sanitize their hands at the hand sanitizer stations at the market entrance prior to entering the market.
VEHICLES MAY NOT PLAY MUSIC OR SOUND OF ANY KIND. Limited SoundFX at a reasonable volume, if a part of your decorated theme, are acceptable.
Each vehicle will be given an identification number upon arrival that needs to be displayed visibly in your setup for voting purposes.
Guests in attendance will vote for their favorite trunks via Text Message while at the event. Instructions will be distributed to guests as they enter the market. Pictures of trunks and the voting directions will also be distributed via social media so those at home can participate. Guests will be able to vote 1x per category per phone number.
Trunks are competing to win one (1) of the following categories:
- Trunk or Treat 2020 - BEST TRUNK
- Trunk of Treat 2020 - MOST ORIGINAL TRUNK
- Trunk of Treat 2020 - SPOOKIEST TRUNK
- Trunk of Treat 2020 - SILLIEST TRUNK
Digital display boards visible by the band stand will display the current running tallies of votes on vehicles. At 2pm sharp, voting will conclude and the then-current tallies will be used to identify the winners. Vehicles may only win 1 category. The winner of "BEST TRUNK" cannot win any of the other 3 categories. The winners of the other 3 categories will be unique winners. This will be decided by taking the next placed winner in the list until a unique winner is found.
Prizes will be awarded for each category listed above.
If you cannot make it on the 31st, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know so that we can cancel your registration.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing you on October 31st!
